Saints played out a disappointing 0 – 0 draw at St Marys last night.

There were encouraging signs in the first half as Saints moved the ball around well, without actually having that cutting edge in the last 3rd.

But they came out in the 2nd half a different team and Wednesday got back into the game, and in the end 0 -0 was about what both teams deserved, although Wednesday will feel the happier.

Not sure what happens in the changing room at half time, but whatever it was also affected the referee, who had a good first half and then came out the 2nd half and made a series of strange decisions in favour of the away team

My man of the match was Alan Bennett for commanding the back line with some brave headers towards the end. He seemed to fit into that roll really well and far superior to the first couple of performances. Hammill did extremely well, but Burley playing him on the left and Surman on the right  I am not convinced this is the best placement for them both. Hammill  did some great runs down the left wing and cutting back into the area. I I would have kept ike this for the first 20 and then swapped them both over into their more natural roles.

Wright-Phillips did well on the wing and looks far more accomplished cutting into the area from this position. Saganowski took time to warm up but soon started cracking shots towards the goal. The crowd shouted for both Rasiak and Saggers and it makes you wonder why the two highest scoring pairing are not starting matches these days..

Maybe we have to keep Rasiak injury free ready for January....?
