Oh for a Player who knows where the back of the net is……
Saints dominated the first half but in reality huffed and puffed but lacked the cutting edge.  
If there was a sense of injustice at half time at the way a poor Burnley team had “stolen” the lead with their only attack of the first half deep into injury time, the feeling after the second half was one of deep disappointment.

The fact is saints played some “nice” football at times…….including some real fancy play when 2 Saints players dummied the ball at the same time stood next to each other allowing the ball to run for a goal kick to Burnley.
But truth is at this stage of the season all we need are results.

Up front BWP was a waste of space today, IMO he should be put on the transfer list and never play for Saints again.  God only knows what Stern John was doing, he couldn’t even stand up most of the time!.    Yet Pearson waited until 78 mins before making a change.

Midfield was light-weight when it came to the battle.
We had 12 corners today!.....plus a number of free kicks, but the delivery was variable to say the least!      Burnley had 3 corners and caused us problems with each one.

Defence and goalkeeper were pretty solid (other than the goal), with Wright looking good in goal and Surman (my man of the match….for what it’s worth), also putting in a good performance.

It will take a mammoth effort or a large slice of luck for Saints to stay up.
I still believe they will……but it will be more to do with the fact the other teams around us are little better, than any great achievement on our part!
