More spin than Shane Warne

There is little any of us can do about the current situation, and come the start of the season, I will be behind the team as much as anyone.

But I’m going to have one more rant before I try to look for the positives.

Why is it that the board and the OS deem it necessary to try and over-sell these 2 guys to us?  Michael Wilde talks about their experience and expertise, and then we have a list of Poortvliet’s achievements.   The sad fact is these achievements don’t reflect the hype and are actually inaccurate.

Season 2004/05 he was with Telstar in the Dutch first division (2nd tier) and apparently got to the play offs.  (From what I can see of the Dutch league nearly all the teams make the play offs).   Ok, fair achievement, so why therefore was he then the following season with an amateur team in the Dutch 5th Division?  (6th tier – lower than the conference).  Seems a bit strange.

Season 2007/08 he was back with a first division club, Helmond, and according to the official site they came 6th and made the play offs.  Although they actually came 7th. And even the team that came 10th out of 20 were in the play offs.

Further investigations show up more discrepancies, but I won’t continue to list as I expect these would have been picked up on elsewhere by now.

I understand we are under financial restraints and I wish them well, but please treat fans with more respect and be a little honest with us!
