Calm before the storm?

Saints have now bought in 3 new players for next season, and to date have (officially at least) not released/sold any, and this against a background of cutting costs. 

This has to beg the question, exactly how many of the first team squad are going to be sold before the start of next season???

The message from the new board was clear, we have to reduce our on and off field costs.  So I’m surprised we have signed anyone.  In fact more than surprised, I’m worried that we have signed 3 new players. I was expecting to see all the out of contract players released, plus Rasiak and Skacel moved on.    But now I feel the cull may be much deeper.

The two players we must surely keep are Andrew Davies and Andrew Surman. Almost any other player I could stomach losing, but would be mortified if we were to lose either of these two, especially as they fit in well to the new “youth” policy”.
