Saints have arranged a rather strange swap deal with Sheffield United, with Nathan Dyer joining the Blades until December and 20 year old striker Jordan Robertson coming in the opposite direction. This move is made all the more strange as recently in the echo, Poortvliet bemoaned his lack of wide players, and now he’s quoted on the OS as saying it makes good sense as we have a lot of options in the same position as Dyer. With Holmes Injured and Poortvliet himself admitting strikers McGoldrick and BWP don't really suit the wide positions…..these statements seem a little contradictory. Makes you wonder, if he actually has any say on these things, or just forgets what he has said……. It seems to me that we clearly need some experience, not another youngster. Poortvliet seems set on playing just 1 up front, and we already have John, McGoldrick, Pekhart and BWP, so how it makes sense to bring in another inexperienced striker is beyond me. I realise we are skint, so why bring in someone for the sake of it? Our transfer policy appears very weird. We have brought in Forecast from spurs who isn't even 2nd choice. We have signed 2 injured midfeilders....in Pulis and Gasmi! There seems to be no rhythm or reason to any of it
